It is a soothing and nourishing beverage made with turmeric, milk, and other spices. Here’s a recipe from Ayur Healthcare for preparing Ayurvedic Turmeric Milk:

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of milk (you can use dairy or plant-based milk like almond milk or coconut milk)
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger powder or freshly grated ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1 pinch of black pepper
  • 1-2 teaspoons honey or a natural sweetener of your choice (optional)
  • A small amount of ghee (clarified butter) or coconut oil (optional)

Instructions:

  • Pour the milk into a saucepan and heat it on low to medium heat.
  • Add turmeric powder, cinnamon powder, ginger powder or grated ginger, cardamom powder, and a pinch of black pepper to the milk.
  • Stir the mixture continuously to blend the spices into the milk.
  • This will also prevent the spices from clumping together.
  • Allow the milk to simmer gently for about 5-10 minutes. This will infuse the flavors of the spices into the milk.
  • If you wish to add a small amount of ghee or coconut oil, you can do so at this stage. Ghee or coconut oil can help enhance the absorption of turmeric in the body.
  • After simmering, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the milk cool down slightly.
  • If you prefer a sweeter taste, you can add honey or a natural sweetener of your choice. Stir well to dissolve the sweetener.
  • Strain the milk through a fine-mesh sieve to remove any larger pieces of spices or ginger.
  • Pour the Ayurvedic Turmeric Milk into mugs or cups and serve it warm.

Note: You can adjust the quantity of spices and sweetener according to your taste preferences. Additionally, you can experiment with different spices like nutmeg or cloves to add more flavor to your Turmeric Milk.
