Takradhara / Medicated Buttermilk Stream

Duration – 60 minutes. $ 140

The meaning of Takra is Buttermilk and Dhara means Stream. Takra Dhara is an effective Ayurvedic treatment that uses medicated buttermilk. Takradhara is a form of Shirodhara where medicated buttermilk, which has tremendous cooling and healing properties, is used as the main ingredient for this therapy. It is poured on the forehead in a rhythmic stream with a gentle and relaxing head massage. In this fast pace of life, almost everyone seems to be affected by stress and that is affecting our personal and professional life aspect. So, it becomes necessary for us to calm our minds so that we can be more productive in our work. And Takradhara therapy produces that state of deep relaxation.

Treatment method –

  • The patient is made to lie down comfortably in a supine position with a pillow beneath the neck so that the head tilts slightly backward.
  • The medicated liquid is then poured in a particular manner on the forehead from a specific height. The vessel containing liquid continuously oscillates so that the liquid falls uniformly over the scalp.
  • After the procedure is finished, the head of the patient is wiped with a sterile towel.
